Obtenir une chaîne de texte à partir d'EditText ?

Question

Il semble que je ne parvienne pas à trouver comment obtenir la chaîne de texte à partir de EditText . Je souhaite utiliser le texte de la EditText en appuyant sur le bouton.

layout.xml :

EditText edt = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.edittext);
String xyz = edt.getText().toString();

J'ai résolu le problème moi-même :

final EditText edittextDescription = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.edittext);

doit être

final EditText edittextDescription =  (EditText)layout.findViewById(R.id.txtDescription);

Ensuite, je peux faire ceci pour obtenir la chaîne de caractères

String s = edittext.getText().toString();
